Ozil offered to pay the full salary of Gunnersaurus maskot

Arsenal midfielder, Mesut Ozil, has offered to pay the full salary of Gunnersaurus, the club’s recently sacked mascot.

The German football star made this known via his official Twitter page on Tuesday, October 6, 2020.

Jerry Quy, the man who wore the dinosaur costume and played Gunnersaurus, the club’s iconic mascot for 27 years, was relieved of his duties at Emirates Stadium at the start of the week.

Arsenal had on Monday, October 5, said his services were no longer required in the absence of supporters at the Emirates Stadium and other EPL grounds due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Ozil, however, said he will pay the mascot’s salary for as long as he is an Arsenal player.

”I was so sad that Jerry Quy aka our famous & loyal mascot Gunnersaurus and integral part of our club was being made redundant after 27 years”.

“As such, I’m offering to reimburse Arsenal with the full salary of our big green guy as long as I will be an Arsenal player, so Jerry can continue his job that he loves so much.” he wrote.
