A yet – to – be- identified driver conveying Automotive Gas Oil, also known as diesel, to a destination in the state lost control of the vehicle and crashed around the New Road bus stop in Apapa , Lagos .
Confirming the incident , the Director – General , Lagos State Emergency Management Agency , Olufemi Oke -Osanyintolu , said the suspected cause of the accident was brake failure.
He added that emergency responders , including the LASEMA response team and officials of the state fire service, were on ground to salvage the situation.
Oke – Osanyintolu said the accident led to a temporary gridlock , adding that normal activities resumed on the road after a heavy – duty equipment was deployed in the area to recover the fallen truck.
He said , “ Distress calls were received concerning the incident and upon arrival , it was confirmed that a truck loaded with AGO had fallen due to suspected brake failure.
“ This resulted in the obstruction of free vehicular activities along the corridor .
A multi stakeholder team comprising the Agency ’ s responders , LRU Firefighters , Lagos State Fire Service , LASTMA , LSNC and the Nigerian Police worked together to evacuate the impediment off the road .
