The R & B and pop musical group Styl – Plus (originally Styl ) consisted of Shifi Emoefe , Tunde Akinsanmi , Yemi Akinwonmi, and Lanre Faneyi .
After the death of Lanre Faneyi , Zeal Onyecheme joined the group .
This led to the group being renamed Styl – Plus , the ‘ Plus ’ indicating the new addition to the group .
The group of talented artists broke into the industry with the huge success of their song ,
Olufunmi , which enjoyed massive airplay around Nigeria .
The group went to have other successful songs such as Iya Basira, Imagine That , and Four Years .
As a matter of fact , many graduating students still play the song , Four Years , at their send – off parties after their four- year study at various universities all over Nigeria .
The group was known to deliver heartfelt emotional songs , which were enhanced by their vocal harmonies .
However , this didn’ t last long as the group went their separate ways and not much has been heard from them since then.
This was by far one of the most painful break – ups in the Nigerian music industry .
Made up of twin brothers, Peter and Paul , the group seemed invincible.
Thus, it was heartbreaking for fans when the news of the group ’ s separation spread.
The twins , and their elder brother, Jude , who was their manager, broke up temporarily in 2016 and later reconciled .
However , the reconciliation didn’ t last long as one of the twins , Peter , later declared that he could no longer continue with the group .
He had accused his brothers of sidelining him .
He also stated that Jude did not respect his wife .
Both brothers have continued to release songs individually but fans are still yearning for their comeback, as they daily make appeals to them on their social media pages.
Mo ’ Hits Records
Though this was a record label , its signees also operated as a group as they recorded some songs together.
Co – owned by D’ banj and Don Jazzy , the label went on to sign other artistes including Wande Coal , Dr SID , D’ Prince , and K – Switch.
In their heydays , the group was the darling of music lovers in Africa and beyond .
However , they broke up due to irreconcilable differences between D’ banj and Don Jazzy in March 2012 and their split birthed two record labels , Mavin Records ( made up of Don Jazzy , Dr Sid , Wande Coal and Tiwa Savage) and DB records (comprising of D’ banj and his brother, K- Switch ).
During the days of the Plantashun Boiz, they were one of the biggest names in the music industry .
The hip hop and R& B music group reigned between the late 90s and the early 2000s .
It consisted of 2 face Idibia, Faze and Blackfaze .
The group , which was initially made up of 2 face and Blackfaze , moved down to Lagos from Enugu where they gained popularity and with the inclusion of new member , Faze , it was the team to beat in the music industry .
The group recorded some albums which went on to become successful and Nigerians were undoubtedly ‘ hooked to their magic voices. ’
However , the trio split when 2 face was signed as a solo artiste to Kennis Music .
Blackfaze later accused 2 face of stealing one of his biggest songs , African Queen , and the duo are still not on good terms .
The trio of Eedris Abdulkareem , Eddy Montana and Tony Tetuila , known as the Remedies , were a force to reckon with back then.
At that time , there were very few artistes who could compete with them , considering their distinct style .
The group dominated the music scene and it broke the hearts of many when they parted ways .
They all went on to have solo careers .
Trybesmen is regarded as one of the biggest and popular African hip- hop groups of the late nineties and early 2000 s .
The three original members of the group — Eldee, Kaboom and Freestyle — first met in 1994 in Lagos .
Their first album, L .A. G Style Volume 1, was released in 1999 to positive reviews .
Their other songs include Trybal Marks and Shake Bodi.
The group later expanded to include other members like Sasha, 2 Shotz and Oladele, before they went their separate ways .
As of now , most of the group ’ s members have relocated out of Nigeria .
Kush was one of the top all-female music groups in the country at a time .
Consisting of TY Bello , Lara George and Emem Emma, the trio met at a campus fellowship in the University of Lagos and became a group when they realised they had the same interest .
One of the group ’ s biggest songs was titled , Let ’ s Live Together , and it won them a lot of fans who admired their youth and vivaciousness .
However the group later split .
TY Bello went on to record some songs such as Greenland
and Ekundayo before focusing on her photography career .
Lara George also continued as a gospel singer and Emem is currently the manager of Mr P (Peter Okoye ).
Infinity started as a gospel acapella group consisting of five members — Kehinde Akinbode , Joe Okougbu , David Thomas , Samson Nnogo and Sunny Steve.
However they didn’ t enjoy popularity until they had their big break in 2007 with the release of their song , Olori Oko .
The song was one of the most -played tracks of that time and they performed at the biggest concerts .
The video for the song was also praised for its creative ingenuity and it won many awards .
At that time , they were regarded as one of the best gospel groups in Nigeria .
The group however did not last long as two of its members , Thomas and Akinbode , left to pursue solo careers .
The members of the group , Kenneth Okonkwo (KC ) and Precious John (Presh), met in church and signed up for the
Star Quest TV show which they won .
They went on to give music lovers hits such as
Shokori Bobo , Segemenge and
National Cake .
Their efforts were rewarded with awards such as Most Promising Act, Best Collaboration , Best Music Comedy Video , Best Akwa Cross Artiste, Best South – South Artiste, and a host of others.
However , after 12 years together, Kcee and Presh , decided to pursue solo careers .
Kcee went to release solo hits such as Limpopo and Pull Over , among others.
The group was made up of Olumide Adegbulu ( Olu ), Tolu Ogunniyi (Tolu ) and their producer , Adeboye Bammeke (Big Bamo).
They shot into the limelight with hit songs such as Alo , Domitila and I Catch Cold .
Sadly, they broke up when fans were still expecting more from them.
Olu ( who rebranded as Olu Maintain) went on to release solo hit singles such as Yahooze and
