Sevilla stun Barca in Copa del rey

With on-loan signing Kevin Prince-Boateng given a debut, Barca were slow off the starting blocks inside the opening stages of the match.

Past the 30-minute mark, neither side had launched any insightful openings but the hosts debunked this quickly.
Talisman Wissam Ben-Yadder caused commotion after dancing around a few defenders, but he curled the final delivery off target on 36 minutes.

Malcom went close to his second goal in Barca’s colours, but missed from a good position after rounding Juan Soriano four minutes before the interval.
It was the turn of the hosts to cause havoc as the second half took off, and Ibrahim Amadou found space in the box before sending a low shot wide.

Sevilla went into the lead on 58 minutes after Pablo Sarabia beat Jasper Cillessen with a right-foot shot following a good cross by Quincy Promes.
Even after going ahead, Sevilla didn’t stop their offensive ways and Ever Banega nearly added a second but he sent a header over the top on 61 minutes.

Seconds later, Barca called Phillipe Coutinho and Luis Suarez from the dugout for Boateng and Suarez respectively.
In the 76th minute, Banega’s deflected shot from the edge of the area fell kindly to Ben Yedder to give the White and Reds a two-goal lead on 76 minutes.

Despite receiving more chances to go in front, the home side settled for a 2-0 first-leg victory ahead of the return tie in a few weeks time.
